Overview
Firm founding partner Douglas D. Fletcher regards the practice of law as a vocation, not merely a profession. He believes that those entrusted to the calling must possess passion for the law, unswerving dedication to clients, and uncompromising personal integrity. Above all, Doug believes that balance between professional and personal life, and adherence to strong values, are the keys to success, both in life and in work. These are the tenets on which he established the firm thirty years ago.
Doug began his career in 1978, serving as an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County, Texas. In 1981, Doug entered private practice, bringing his prior prosecutorial focus to the successful defense of corporations throughout the State of Texas.
Over the past twenty five years, Doug has become known to corporate clients and opposing counsel as a formidable presence in the high-stakes, high-level Texas litigation arena. He has successfully litigated over 152 trials to verdict in matters ranging from complex personal injury, transportation, product liability, premises liability, Dram Shop liability and numerous other matters involving serious exposure to the firm's corporate clients. His practice has evolved from classic trial representation to more expanded conflict resolution, and now includes conducting mediations for the Gilbert Mediation Group. Doug is routinely involved in pre-litigation investigations and negotiations for clients, often avoiding litigation and achieving early conflict resolution on clients’ behalf.
A popular speaker and educator, Doug presents frequently before legal groups and continuing legal educational forums. He has earned an AV Preeminent(TM) ranking by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named by Thomson Reuters as a Texas “Super Lawyer” from 2010 to 2021. He was elected to the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, among numerous other legal and professional positions.
Doug is active in his church and volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America. He is on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America Circle Ten Council. He and his wife, a non-practicing attorney, have three children and four grandchildren. In his off time, Doug enjoys cycling, swimming, biking road trips, family travel, and reading biographies and history.
